WHO AM I?

ROBSTER EVANGELISTA
(DJ Rob "the Loverboy", 93.9iFM, 11AM-3PM Monday to Sunday, except Wednesday)

Birthday: Feb. 5, 1979

Rob, as he is more popularly known, is a consummate poet and a true artist by heart. Aside from being a prime time jock of 93.9 iFM, he writes songs for artists and jingles for different companies.

His first published work was "WON'T BE LONG", the carrier single of Sexbomb Jacque Esteves' self-titled debut album. His witty song, "AMATS" is recorded by Parokya ni Edgar in their latest album SOLID under Universal Records.

DJ Rob is also the composer and singer of the catchy jingles of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN), Xtreme Magic Sing, Panasonic Battery, Outlast Battery, Shop O Rama Department Store, Ming's Pei Pa Koa Candy, ELOV Chinese Drugstore, Unlimited Network of Opportunities, Inc. (UNO), and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), among others.

He has also written theme songs for different radio and TV programs (e.g. MOM IN THE CITY, WEATHER AT HOME, Ogie Diaz' WOW ANG SHOWBIZ), as well as special projects of politicians (e.g. President Estrada's "Operation Birthright", rendered by Roxie Barcelo). Together with his former band, Rob rendered the song "SUGAR", a soundtrack in the movie Forevermore starring Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales. His song entries for the Metropop Song Festival ("SIYA NA BA", interpreted by Roxie Barcelo, "CAMPUS LABSONG", co-written with Christian Vallez, and "CRAZY THOUGHTS", co-written with Ronald Diche, both interpreted by himself) passed the preliminary rounds and were included in the 50 songs for final selection.

As a singer, Rob has held performances in cozy private parties, to massive audiences in schools, malls, bars, and election campaigns, alongside artists such as Imago, Father and Sons, Icebox, Gary Granada, Tootsie Guevarra, Wendell Ramos, The Freshmen, and Patricia Javier.

Despite the various influences, Rob is able to blend and establish his own kind of music which he calls "ligaw-tugtog", a combination of folk and pop, sincere but light, witty but not cheesy; one that can play with anybody's heart's strings.

Currently, Rob is working on a CD lite (as composer) for Lyn Reyes, an up and coming singer. His works "How Will I Know" and "Tayo Ba", will be 1st and 2nd singles to be released, respectively. Rob's 3 songs, interpreted by himself (SHOULD HAVE BEEN, OUT OF WORDS, and DAHIL WALA KA),are also included in a compilation album to be released soon by Access to Myusk.
